SIDR Vault
A copy of a document made for one reader. It opens only in SIDR’s viewer, asks SIDR before every open, and records each one.
SIDR Vault is being built and tested. It is not offered yet, and the details on this page may change before it opens.
From upload to the record.
A. You upload
You add a PDF to the deal room. The original stays on SIDR’s server. Readers are only ever sent pages drawn for them.
B. The reader agrees
The reader accepts your agreement. Before the first open they read one line: each open is recorded, with their name, the time, their IP address and their device.
C. A copy for one reader
SIDR draws that reader’s own copy. Every page carries their name and a copy code, and the file is sealed so that it holds no key of its own.
D. Every open is checked online
Each open asks SIDR first: is access still granted, are the terms accepted, is the deal still open. The key lasts five minutes. There is no offline mode.
E. Every open is recorded
Each open joins the deal’s record: who opened which copy, when, and in which viewer. It is the same record as every other step in SIDR.
F. Capture meets a caution screen
In the Windows viewer, the screen capture and screen sharing tools we tested showed a caution screen instead of the page.
G. You revoke
You withdraw a reader’s access. Their next open gets no key, whatever copy they hold.
H. You export the record
You export the record of every open, and anyone can check it on their own machine without asking SIDR.
What it can’t do, said plainly.
We can’t stop a camera. We can name the photo.
- A phone pointed at the screen still shows the page, with the reader’s name in the mark.
- A browser cannot refuse a screenshot. The viewer on other systems has not been measured yet.
- A Vault copy does not open in an ordinary PDF reader at all. That is the design, not a fault.
- It names and records. It is not secrecy: a reader who is allowed to read can still tell someone what they read.
The deal room, carried into a file.
The same agreement, the same marked pages and the same record as the deal room, for the documents a reader needs to keep open on their own desk.
